1723-Present

2023 was a blessed year for our church as we celebrated the 300th anniversary of our founding.

Since 1723, the year after our town was first settled, the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, has been at the heart of our community. We have hosted town meetings in our sanctuary, celebrations and vigils on our church green, and countless other events over our 300-year history.

Today, the church continues to be a vital part of the life of the town. We gather together to worship, learn, serve, and care for one another. Our community is open and welcoming to all, and we invite you to experience a place where God is still speaking, a place of prayer where we can be refreshed by God, a place where mercy and justice are practiced, a place of great music, great youth programs, and great community, a place of joy.

The “Our Story Ministry," (also known as the “Historians”) was formed and began its work in January of 2018, with the goal of uncovering and sharing the rich and vibrant history of our historic church with everyone.
